MCS Charging hub heavy duty, Ekoenergetyka

Ekoenergetyka powers new MCS charging hub for heavy-duty transport in France

Voltix, a VINCI Concessions subsidiary, has inaugurated a new public charging hub for electric heavy-duty vehicles in Vierzon, France. Located at the crossroads of the A20, A71 and A85 motorways, the site is positioned at the heart of one of France’s key road freight corridors.

The hub is powered by Ekoenergetyka’s Axon Charger technology and represents another step in the deployment of Megawatt Charging System (MCS) infrastructure for long-distance electric heavy-duty transport.

The Vierzon site is the first station in Voltix’s French charging network dedicated to electric heavy-duty vehicles. With 1.5 MW of charging power per charging point, it is currently the most powerful charging station in France dedicated to heavy-duty road transport. Four charging points are available today, with the site designed to accommodate up to eight points in total.

Axon Charger technology supporting high-power charging

The charging hub is based on a split-solution combining four Axon Sat MCS sattelites and four Axon Side DLBS units, providing four charging points. Each charging point delivers up to 1.5 MW of charging power.

The station is equipped with both CCS and MCS connectors, making it compatible with electric trucks from all major manufacturers. The high-power MCS technology enables electric trucks to recharge within approximately 30–45 minutes, supporting charging during the driver’s regulatory break and making long-distance operations more practical.

Strategically located at the intersection of the A20, A71 and A85 motorways, the Vierzon hub connects major logistics flows across France and supports the development of charging infrastructure for long-haul heavy-duty transport.

The inauguration also brought together five major truck manufacturers – Renault Trucks, Volvo Trucks, Daimler Truck, Scania and MAN – presenting their latest MCS-compatible electric heavy-duty vehicles. This demonstrated the growing readiness of both vehicle and charging technologies for real-world heavy-duty operations.

From MCS technology to operational infrastructure

The development of the Vierzon hub demonstrates the transition of Megawatt Charging System (MCS) technology from an emerging solution into operational infrastructure for electric heavy-duty transport.

“With charging power designed to meet the requirements of electric trucks, MCS enables charging solutions tailored to the operational needs of long-distance and heavy-duty transport.” – said Maciej Wojeński, Co-founder of Ekoenergetyka-Polska.

The Vierzon project further expands the presence of Ekoenergetyka’s Axon Charger technology in the European heavy-duty charging landscape, following MCS deployments in Sweden and Poland. It also reflects the growing role of scalable charging infrastructure in supporting the transition towards zero-emission heavy-duty mobility across Europe.
