A new milestone for electric heavy-duty transport in Poland has been reached.The country’s first public charging infrastructure for heavy-duty vehicles based on the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) has been opened. Ekoenergetyka supplied the charging technology for the project.
The new infrastructure is located at the Stobiecko Szlacheckie East and West Service Areas along the A1 motorway – one of Poland’s key transit routes and part of the Baltic-Adriatic TEN-T corridor. By placing the charging infrastructure on both sides of the motorway, high-power charging is now available to transport operators travelling in both directions.
Each location combines Axon Charger charging infrastructure for passenger cars with dedicated solutions for heavy-duty transport. Drivers have access to four charging points for passenger vehicles, with power of up to 400 kW each. For trucks, each site offers two dedicated charging positions: an MCS charger capable of delivering up to 1.5 MW, with the option to use a CCS connector at up to 600 kW, as well as a separate CCS charging position for heavy-duty vehicles.
This configuration enables the infrastructure to serve today’s electric trucks using CCS while also supporting the next generation of heavy-duty vehicles designed for MCS charging. The opening marks an important step towards building the charging network required for the electrification of long-haul road transport.
